How to Run 32 Bit Internet Explorer 9 on 64 Bit Windows 7

Internet Explorer version 9 (IE9) which was released few days back comes with lots of new features. There is also 32 bit and 64 bit version available for Windows 7 and Windows Vista. The 32 bit version is bit more superior to the 64 bit version of IE9, but if you try installing the 32bit version on Windows 7 or Vista, you get the error message that “Wrong version of Internet Explorer installer”.

Even though you get this error, you can also install and use 32 bit version of IE9 on 64 bit Windows by following the method below.

Since 32 bit installer is not compatible with Windows 7 64bit, download the 64bit version of IE9 from here.  Now install the 64bit version on your Windows 7 or Vista (64 bit). Once you install Internet Explorer, go your Program Files folder, you will have two folders, one for 64 bit apps (C:\Program Files) and also one for 32bit apps (C:\Program Files (x86)).

Now open the 32 bit apps program files folder (C:\Program Files (x86)), where C is the drive where you have installed Windows. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer folder. Inside the folder, double click on the file iexplore.exe (shown in the image below).

This is the 32 bit version of Internet Explorer 9 installed on your PC, to check this open IE and go to Settings-> About Internet explorer, you can see that it is the 32 bit version.

If you open the iexplore.exe in the C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer and then go to the about window, you can see Internet Explorer 64 bit version.

When you install Internet Explorer 9 on 64 bit machine, it downloads and installs both 32 bit and 64 bit versions on your PC.

10.6: Free native read of HFS+ disks in Windows

Here is a solid, free solution to reading HFS+ formatted discs in Windows OS using only the Snow Leopard install disc. The nice thing is that the Windows install doesn’t have to be ‘real’ Boot Camp.

Inside Windows:

• Load up the Snow Leopard disk.
• Ignore Autoplay.
• Navigate to Boot Camp » Drivers » Apple » Bootcamp.msi.
  (Note: please choose Bootcamp64.msi if you’re running 64 bit Windows).
• Follow the installer instructions.
• Restart.
• Using Start » Run » msconfig, disable ‘Boot Camp’ from running at start up.
• Restart again.

You should now see your HFS+ partitions of external or internal drives. Tested on a Windows 7 laptop (non Boot Camp).

How to Run Mac OS X in VirtualBox on Windows

If you’re on Windows, need to use OS X, but don’t want to buy or build a new computer, reader Bobby Patton shows us how to run Snow Leopard in a virtual machine on Windows with just a few tweaks.

We’ve shown you how to install Snow Leopard in VMWare, but if you haven’t purchased VMWare, you can now do it using previously mentioned, free program VirtualBox. Apart from VirtualBox, you’ll also need an OSX86 ISO. The group Hazard has put out a good patched Snow Leopard installer that should do fine (just search for it on Google). Of course, if you feel bad about downloading the ISO of Snow Leopard, you could always go buy a copy to feel a bit better, karmically.

After you have them both install Virtualbox. Open up Virtualbox and click on New at the top left.

At the Create New Virtual Machine window, click Next.

At this window type OSX as the name and it will automatically change the system and version. The next window will let you choose your RAM amount:

If you can spare it, crank it up as far as you can go, but 1024MB should be sufficient.

This is where you’ll make your hard disk. 20GB should be enough so what it comes down to is dynamic or static. Dynamic will expand on use and Static will be a fixed 20GB no matter how much data is actually in it. Dynamic is better for not taking up your hard drive but static should give you better performance. I normally use dynamic. Click next unless you want to change it from dynamic or if you want to increase the disk size or file location.

It will show a summary of your settings. Click Finish, then click Settings at the top. At this window click on System in the left pane and uncheck Enable EFI.

Now click on the Storage button on the left. From there click on Empty under the OSX.vdi, then click the folder with the green arrow on the right (next to “CD/DVD Device”).

At this window click the Add button at the top. Then find and add the OSX86 ISO you downloaded earlier. Then highlight it and click Select at the bottom. Then click OK, and hit the Start button on the left side of the main VirtualBox window.

As it starts up, click inside the window and hit F8. Then at the boot: prompt type –v so you can see what exactly went wrong if something does go wrong. All the services will run and eventually you should come to the language screen. Choose your language then click next. If you are unable to move your mouse around then hit Right-Ctrl + I. Click Continue and Agree. Next, start up Disk Utility by going to Utilities in the menu bar.

At this screen highlight 20GB VBOX HARDDISK. Then click the Erase tab, name it what you want in the name box and click the Erase button on the bottom right of the window. It shouldn’t take long. Then click Disk Utility in your menu bar and quit it. Now you’re back at the installer. Highlight the drive that is now showing up and click Continue.

The next window is important. Click the Customize button on the bottom left.

AMD Users check:
Any Updates included at the top.
Drop down Kernels and choose Legacy kernel.
AMD option below System support.

Intel Users check:
Any Updates included at the top.
Drop down bootloaders and check the newest Chameleon.
Drop down Kernels and choose Legacy kernel.
Then click Done and hit the Install button. To speed up the process you can click Skip when the disc check pops up.

As soon as it says “installation finished” and starts counting down to restart, press the right Ctrl key. Click on Devices at the top of the VirtualBox window, hit CD/DVD Devices and click Unmount CD/DVD Device. Then go to Machine > Reset and click Reset at the prompt. Next you’ll see the Chameleon loader and then OS X will begin to boot.

After it boots you will see the setup screens for OS X! You’re good to go. The only hiccup I’ve found is that it can only be virtualized with one core. It could be the OSX disc I was using or it might not be. And I have yet to find the right kext that will allow audio to work and the resolution is limited also. But other than that you’ll have a fully functioning OSX virtualized!

Wanneer de interne speakers wel geluid geven maar niet via de koptelefoon ook al zijn de stekkers correct aangesloten doe dan het volgende:

• Go to Control Panel(Configuratiescherm)
• click on Hardware and Sound(Hardware en Geluid)
• click on Sound (Geluid)
• then you devices should come up ; speakers, Digital Audio, and headphone (de lijst met apparaten moet zichtbaar zijn; speakers, digitale audio en de koptelefoon)
• plug your headphones in (plug de koptelefoon in)
• then select headphones (selecteer de koptelefoon)
• at the bottom it will say set as default (zet deze onderin het menu als standaard)
• then when you disconnect your headphones it automatically switches to the speakers and when you plug them back in it automatically will switch to headphones!! (wanneer nu de koptelefoon eruit wordt gehaald worden automatisch de interne speakers geselecteerd en vice versa)

2. Switch to “Classic” view
3. Double-click Administration Tools
4. Double-click Local Security Policy
5. Or Secpol.msc
6. Expand “Local Policies” and select “Security Options”
7. Alternate : Type secpol.msc to get editor up then
8. Locate “Network Security: LAN Manager Authentication Level” in the list and double-click it.
9. Change the setting from “Send NTMLv2 response only” to “Send LM & NTLM – use NTLMv2 session if negotiated”
10. Network Security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP Based (including secure RPC) Clients
11. Change the setting from “require 128 bit” to unchecked (No Minimum)
12. Click OK

Een van de grootste tekortkomingen van iCal is naar onze mening het ontbreken van de mogelijkheid om weeknummers weer te geven. Nu kan je natuurlijk gebruik maken van een “third party”-applicatie als MenuCalendarClock om snel de weeknummers te achterhalen, maar je kan ook de datum notatie wijzigen.

Ga hiervoor naar  ▸ Systeem voorkeuren… ▸ Landinstellingen ▸ Notatie, klik hierna op de knop “Pas aan…” in de datum sectie en selecteer de volledige weergave. Deze notatie wordt door iCal gebruikt voor de weergave van dag en week.

Pas nu de weergave componenten aan naar onderstaand voorbeeld:

Sleep het weeknummer “Week van jaar” achter het jaartal, en plaats er eventueel ‘w’ of ‘week’ voor.

Wanneer je de wijzigingen heb aangebracht herstart je iCal en is dit het resultaat:

How To Upload & Sync Your Files To SkyDrive From Windows Explorer

Windows Live Skydrive has been featured on MUO as one of the best services to come out of Microsoft for offering 25GB of online storage. Not only can you use it as a Picasa or Flickr alternative thanks to its integration with Windows Live Photos, but with a little preparation, you can also map it as a network drive (see SkyDrive in Windows Explorer) so you can use it as a file storing, syncing and sharing service.

SkyDrive could possibly even be a Dropbox alternative so you can sync files to SkyDrive. You can actually save yourself the work with either of the free Gladinet and SDExplorer tools, but this is another way to map SkyDrive using the downloadable Microsoft Office 2010 Beta or one open-source utility.
The 50MB file size limit still applies but most personal files and documents that you own don’t exceed that size, correct? However, if you have huge files, you might want to consider other storage services.

So in order for you to see SkyDrive in Windows Explorer, you need to retrieve the unique location of each of your SkyDrive folders or Windows Live Photo albums which is generally something like https://abcdef.docs.live.net/yourcid/nameoffolder.

In that address, abcdef is actually a unique combination of six letters and numbers corresponding to your folder or album, while yourcid is the long ID code that appears in your URL bar after you log into SkyDrive. Nameoffolder corresponds to the name of your SkyDrive folder, of course.

So let’s go over how we can figure out the abcdef codes.

Retrieving The WebDAV Addresses Of Your SkyDrive Folders (Method 1)

This method is for users who already have downloaded Microsoft Office 2010 Beta; otherwise, jump to Method 2.

1. Sign into SkyDrive.live.com in your web browser.
2. Go to the Start menu, right-click on My Computer, and select Map Network Drive.
3. Now open Microsoft Office 2010 Beta (either Word or Excel). At the top left of your document/spreadsheet, click on File > Share >Save to SkyDrive.



4. Now sign in to see your SkyDrive folders. Choose one of your folders and hit Save As.



5. In the Save As box that appears, click on the address bar to copy the address.



6. Now switch to the Map Network Drive dialog box that you opened in the first step, and paste the address in the Folder text box. After this, jump to the Accessing SkyDrive Folders From Windows Explorer section.

Retrieving The WebDAV Addresses Of Your SkyDrive Folders (Method 2)

This is for users who don’t have Microsoft Office 2010 Beta.

1. Sign into SkyDrive.live.com in your web browser.
2. Go to the Start menu and right-click on My Computer. Select Map Network Drive.
3. Now, download the open-source utility, SkyDrive Simple Viewer, (requires Microsoft.NET 3.5 SP1) kindly offered in a 14KB zip file by a developer that discovered that files could be uploaded to SkyDrive via WebDAV. Download it here.
4. Unzip the files and double-click on the SkyDriveSimpleViewer.exe.
5. Enter your Windows Live ID username (e.g. name@live.com) and password. Click on Login to my SkyDrive.



6. Choose a folder and click on the WebDAV address to copy it.
7. Switch back to the Map Network Drive dialog box that appeared after you completed step 1 and paste the address you just copied in the box titled Folder.

Accessing SkyDrive Folders From Windows Explorer

Now that you have pasted the address into the Folder text box in the Map Network Drive dialog box, delete the “https:” part of the address and change all the forward slashes (“/”) to backslashes (“\”). Your address should now look like this : \\abcdef.docs.live.net\yourcid\nameoffolder.

If you’re satisfied with the default drive letter (usually Y:) for your SkyDrive folder, check Reconnect at logon and click on Finish. Otherwise, choose another letter drive before you hit Finish. In a few moments, you should be greeted these:

Now, just sign in with your Windows Live ID (whole email) and password and you should see your SkyDrive folder as if it were another folder in Windows Explorer.

If you want to map your other SkyDrive folders, repeat the steps, making sure you copy the right and unique abcdef code of each of your SkyDrive folders. Also, when you type in nameoffolder, beware that ^2Public and ^2Documents may work instead of Public and Documents, so try those names if you have problems connecting. Names of photo albums should work the same as long as they don’t have any spaces or special characters in their names.

If you still can’t connect, try saving your file to a different SkyDrive folder in Microsoft Office 2010 Beta (if you used Method 1), copying that address instead and repeating the previous steps. If you used Method 2, try copying the WebDAV address of another SkyDrive folder in the SkyDrive Simple Viewer and repeating the previous steps.

Alternatively, try adding @SSL\DavWWWRoot\ to the pasted addresses in the Map Network Drive dialog box (e.g. \\abcdef.docs.live.net@SSL\DavWWWRoot\yourcid\nameoffolder).

Uploading Files To Your SkyDrive Folders

Now that you have your SkyDrive folders mapped in Windows Explorer, you’ll notice that it can be a little slow to even open the newly mapped folder. That’s because Windows Explorer is downloading files and folders to your location. Dragging and dropping files through Windows Explorer to your SkyDrive folders may also take a while or even choke Windows Explorer into showing you “(Not Responding)” since Windows Explorer is actually uploading each file to SkyDrive.

So if you have tried moving folders and Windows Explorer gets stuck, try copying files through the command prompt. Let’s say that you mapped your SkyDrive Documents folder in Windows Explorer using the drive letter T, and you want to copy the contents of your Documents folder in your PC to the SkyDrive Documents folder.

• Copy the path of your non-SkyDrive Documents folder.



• Press the Windows key and R at the same time to bring up the Run command.
• Type cmd and in the command prompt that appears, type “cd “ (command to change directories) without the quotes. Don’t forget the space after cd.
• Right-click on the title bar of the command prompt, select Edit > Paste. Press Enter.



• Now that you are in the directory whose contents you want to copy, type “copy *.* T:\” without the quotes. This just says to copy everything inside this directory to “T:\”.
• Wait till the command prompt shows you X file(s) copied.

After you have uploaded files to SkyDrive, map your SkyDrive folders in your other PCs and you’ll be able to sync files! Of course, you’ll see most changes reflected online at skydrive.live.com in seconds (deleting photos in Windows Explorer doesn’t seem to work because you can still see them on the website).

At the website, you can also download your files and share folders. Just upload them to your Public SkyDrive folder or edit the permissions for any other folder so that either a few people or the entire world can view your files. This is great if you want to share photos with family and friends because they don’t even need to sign in with a Windows Live ID. Just check Don’t require recipients to sign in with Windows Live ID when you’re on the Send a link page.

Right-Click On A File To Send To SkyDrive

In Windows Vista, the drive you mapped for a SkyDrive folder appears on the Send To menu after you right-click on a file, but if you don’t see it, press the Windows key and R at the same time to summon the Run command. Type in shell:sendto and in the box that appears, right-click on the white space > New > Shortcut.

Now click on the Browse… button to find the drive to which you mapped your SkyDrive folder. In my case, I chose T: for my SkyDrive Documents folder. Click OK.

Click Next. Name it something like SkyDrive Documents.

And there you go, right-click on any file and send to your SkyDrive Documents folder right in Windows Explorer!
